Jagatsinghpur: As many as seven persons were critically injured in a violent group clash that ensued on Wednesday night in Kundupur village under Balikuda police limits during a Saraswati Puja idol immersion process.

According to reports, two big Saraswati puja pandals had been set up within 40 feet range on the same road. Last evening, when one group had organized a melody program, the other pandal was taking the idol for immersion.

The two groups clashed over the loud sound of their respective music systems and a scuffle began. It soon turned ugly as members of the two groups started thrashing each other with sticks and pelted stones.

On intimation, cops reached the spot and pacified the situation. The injured persons were admitted to Jagatsinghpur hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.
