Berhampur: A 60-year-old cancer patient died at a quarantine centre in Kashinagar in Gajapati district today. He was identified as Katti Rao Krushna, a native of Kashinagar. Rao was staying with his son in West Godavari district with his son.

He had returned to Odisha on May 19 and was quarantined at a Temporary Medical Centre (TMC).

Rao was suffering from cancer from past 5 months and was undergoing treatment at Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack. One month back he had gone to Andhra Pradesh to stay with his son.

As the people there resisted, Rao returned to his native. However, in Kashinagar also, the villagers did not entertain his presence. Following this, we shifted him to the nearest TMC, said Gajapati Collector, Anupam Saha.

"Unfortunately, today morning at 4 am he died. Our medical teams led by the sub-collector are present in the TMC. All necessary protocols are being followed," Saha added.
