Elections 2019: 14 Polling Officials Suspended In Odisha For Dereliction Of Duty

Bargarh/Nayagarh: The District Magistrate of Bargarh, Indramani Tripathy on Friday suspended six polling officer for dereliction of duty. These include, three presiding officers and three sector officers.

Those suspended are:

Sector Officer Manoranjan Panigrahi and Presiding Officer Uma Shankar Panigrahi of Booth 68 in Bargarh assembly constituency;

Sector Officer Prasant Sethi and Presiding Officer Priyabrata Sahu of booth number 235 in Attabira assembly constituency;

Sector Officer Pradip Pradhan and Presiding Officer Resamseti Pottai of booth 16 in Dabha.

Similarly, Nayagarh Collector Thirumala Naik suspended eight polling officials for dereliction of duty during the second phase elections. 

As many as two presiding officers, two sector officers and four polling officers have been placed under suspension for irregularities in booth nos. 210 and 222 here.

While action was taken against four of them due to cross-pairing of EVMs and VVPATs, four others were suspended for their absence at the booths on the polling day.
