Bhubaneswar/Angul: Following orders of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, senior State Government officials are touring district hospitals, and inspecting effective implementation of the 5T model of governance.

In this course, Transformation and Initiatives (5T) Secretary VK Pandian toured the Angul district headquarters hospital on Tuesday and inspected the medical facility. On this occasion, Pandian met a male patient who complained about drug unavailabity at the DHH.

According to reports, the patient was undergoing treatment in the Male Ward of Angul DHH. While he was receiving treatment and medicines free of cost, the patient reported 5T Secretary that one drug worth Rs 500 was not available at the hospital.

The patient in question said that he purchased the drug paying Rs 500 from a local pharmaceutical shop. On learning the patient's plight, the 5T Secretary ordered immediate reimbursement of the drug's cost.

Further, Pandian directed the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and Public Health Officer to ensure that 'no out of pocket expenditure was incurred by patients' for treatment or buying drugs.

Pandian was accompanied by National Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit to the hospital. They visited the Male Ward, Maternity and child health (MCH) and interacted with the patients. The 5T Secretary held a brief meeting with the district collector and CDMO on healthcare facilities at the hospital.
