Keonjhar: Secretary Transformation and Initiatives (5T), VK Pandian today visited the Manoj Manjari Sishu Bhawan at Keonjhar and spend some time with inmates of the orphanage. The 5T Secretary also had lunch with the children and took stock of availability of basic amenities at the facility.
He was accompanied by National Health Mission (NHM) Director Shalini Pandit and Development Commissioner Suresh Mohapatra, Collector Ashish Thakare and SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra.
Pandian, sources said, is immensely concerned for the all-round development of underprivileged children. During his tenure as the Collector, he always had special attention at the orphanage and was dedicated to improving living conditions for the inmates.
Manoj Manjiri Shishu Bhawan is home for orphans, single-parent children and abandoned children. As of now, there are 50 boys and 49 girls accommodated in the orphanage. Besides, 13 infant/newborn babies are also living under care here.
The senior IAS officer, was the first to receive the Helen Keller award as a Collector in Odisha for his works towards the upliftment of destitute children. Pandian held brief meetings with the officials at Manoj Manjari Sishu Bhawan and enquired about the challenges and opportunities at the facility.
The 5T Secretary is leading from the front in ensuring effective implementation of the 'Mo Sarkar' initiative which was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on October 2. As a part of this drive, he is touring different districts and collecting feedback from common masses about facilities at Government organisations.
