Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a four-year-old girl’s body was found floating in an open septic tank in Botiguda village here today morning.

According to the girl’s father Laxmi Chandra Jani, she went missing from home on Wednesday evening at around 8 pm following which he lodged a complaint at the police station.

With the help of locals, Laxmi tried to look for his daughter in every locality and also informed Childline officials. However, their search went in vain. Today morning, some locals spotted the minor girl’s body floating in the open septic tank and informed the cops.

Locals alleged that work on the under-construction tank should be finished as soon as possible in order to avoid any untoward incident. The open tank is located right next to the village field, where kids play every evening, and thus it poses a danger for the community.

On intimation, police reached the spot and recovered the girl’s body for post-mortem.
