Odisha: 4 Critically Injured After Acid & Knife Attack By Miscreants Over Cashew Orchard Dispute In Puri

02 April 2019

Puri: In a brutal incident, four persons suffered critical injuries after acid was thrown at them and they were attacked with knife late last night at Shahajanpur area under Brahmagiri police limits.

Reportedly, the incident occurred when villagers of Shahajanpur were guarding the cashew orchard in the night. During the same time, one of the houses in the village was set ablaze. The five occupants of the house came out running to save their lives but the group of miscreants threw acid at them as soon as they emerged from the house.

The miscreants also attacked the five persons with a sharp knife. Four of them sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Later, other villagers of Shahajanpur filed a complaint at Brahmagiri police station. They have alleged that villagers of Chapamanik are behind this incident. It is notable to mention here that the two villages have clashed over ownership of cashew orchard earlier.
