Balasore: In a dramatic turn of events, three youths and staff of Uttareswar petrol pump in Soro clashed over Rs 5 late last night here. According to sources, this is how the incident unfolded:

After meeting their sister in Markona, three youths were on their way back when their bike ran out of petrol. The went to Uttareswar petrol pump to refill the vehicle's tank with Rs 55 worth of petrol. After the tank was refilled and payment was made, the petrol pump employee returned the extra Rs 5 in coins of Re 1 and Rs 2.

To this, the youths said, "We will not accept the change in one rupee or two rupees coins. We need a five rupees coin instead. The smaller denomination coins are not being accepted." The petrol pump staff argued that the Re 1 and Rs 2 coins were very much in circulation and were being used extensively.

However, the youths kept arguing and even hit the petrol pump owner with their helmet demanding for Rs 5 coin. When things got out of hand, the petrol pump staff also retaliated and made the youths kneel down on the road. On intimation, cops reached the spot and rescued the youths.

Further probe into the matter is currently underway.
