Odisha: 3 Women Arrested For Stripping & Thrashing Anganwadi Worker In Kendrapara

Kendrapara: Rajkanika police arrested three women today for stripping and brutally thrashing an Anganwadi worker a few days back. The video that had gone viral in social media on January 24 depicted a shocking scene of a Dahanigiri Anganwadi centre worker being thrashed in half-naked condition publicly by some irate women.

Reportedly, the Anganwadi centre was shut for over the past few months and became functional last week after police intervention. The locals gheraoed the worker on Wednesday, questioning her about the food and money that was sanctioned during closure period which eventually led to thrashing of the worker.

Later, the victim filed a complaint and the cops began a probe. Meanwhile, All Odisha Anganwadi Ladies Workers Association staged a protest demanding speedy justice by arrested of the accused persons.

After today’s arrest, Bijay Mallik, IIC of Rajkanika Police station said, “We have apprehended three women and now we will hold talks with the association to stop the protest. Other absconders will also be arrested soon.”
