Odisha: 3 Bank Mitras Arrested On Charges Of Duping, Looting 40 Lakhs

Rourkela: The Cyber Crime cell of Rourkela Police today arrested three ‘Bank Mitra’ on charges of duping people and looting more than Rs 40 lakhs from their bank accounts.

Bank Mitra is an concept designed under PPP (Public Private Partnership) Where a Bank Mitra or CSP works as a representative or agent of Bank and appointed to provide Banking service to citizens. Banking services like Account opening, cash deposit acceptance and cash withdrawal etc. the accused trio fooled people and emptied their bank accounts.

The loot is said to happen in several phases from September 21 to October 5 in year 2018.

As per reports, one Santosh Pati who was a Bank Mitra of Bandhamunda branch of United Bank of India initiated this duping and looting. After getting successful, he asked two of his friends from Birmitrapur UBI branch to join him.

Cash of Rs 2.5 Lakhs was found on their person. Probe and a search for rest of the amount is underway.
