Odisha: 29 School Girls Who Left Hostel In Gajapati Rescued

Gajapati: After a long day of search, 29 girls of Antaraba government residential school in Mohana area here were rescued from a jungle near Tanglipadar village late last night. In a huge exodus, the girls had left the hostel on Saturday night and had gone missing since then.

The police and district administration rescued the girls after tracking the mobile phone of one of the girls, said officials. The girls have been safely shifted to the hostel of Chandragiri Government School.

The students are currently being interrogated by the officials to know the exact reason behind them leaving the hostel and who helped them in the exodus, said the SDPO.

According to sources, the girls were facing problems and in order to get solutions, they decided to tell their grievances to the Collector and had left the hostel in the middle of Saturday night.

On intimation, school authorities, district welfare officer and police had launched a search operation to find the girls. After 24 hours of toil, the girls were traced and further probe into the matter is currently underway.
