Odisha: 2 Dreaded Criminals Injured, Nabbed After Encounter In Ganjam And Jharsuguda

Berhampur/Jharsuguda: In two separate encounters, two criminals were injured and later nabbed by respective Police forces of Ganjam and Jharsuguda district on Saturday morning.

In Ganjam encounter, based on tip-off the Police team accosted one Susant Behera aka Koko at about 4.20 am at Jayashree Chemicals road of Berhampur. Koko fired shots at Police and was injured in retaliation. He got gunshot injuries at his left knee. The accused was immediately shifted to SD hospital, Chatrapur for treatment. He was later shifted to Berhampur MKCG Hospital as his condition worsened.

Two constables of the Police team also received minor injuries. They were given adequate treatment.

One motorcycle, one mouser, two live cartridges, two mobiles were seized from the spot. Koko, 25, had several cases pending against him. He hailed from Rajib Nagar in Gosani Nuagan of Berhampur.

The second encounter took place at Chualiberna of Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda district. Notorious criminal Binod Prasad was injured in an exchange of fire with Brajrajnagar Police at about 3 am. He received a bullet in his leg in the face-off and is currently undergoing treatment for the same. Prasad is said to be a close associate of another dreaded criminal Sonu Ghosh.
