Odisha: 199 Migrant Workers Returned Dead In 10 Yrs

Bhubaneswar: A total of 199 workers who had left Odisha in search of jobs to other States and overseas have returned dead in the last one decade (2009-2019 October).

This was revealed by Minister of Labour & Employees State Insurance Susanta Singh in a written reply to a question by BJP member from Baripada Prakash Soren.

Singh said a total sum of Rs 1, 05, 68,167 has been paid to the family of the deceased overseas workers as financial assistance.

Maximum number of overseas workers who have returned dead during the period are from Kalahandi with 44, Kendrapada 28, Ganjam 27, Kandhamal 16, and Khurda 14, Singh said in the reply.
