Angul: Panic struck the Behuri family of Talagada village under Bantala police limits when a 13-feet-long reptile was sighted near their house yesterday evening.

The family immediately contacted the Snake Helpline who rushed to the spot to rescue the snake before any untoward situation.

The helpline authorities identified the snake as a King Cobra and rescued it from the spot. The officials took the reptile to a safe spot and released it from their captivity.

In a similar incident, an eight foot long snake was rescued from Brahmana Bahal village yesterday as well. According to locals, the snakes leave the dense forests during monsoons and wander inside the slums and villages.
