Odisha: 12-Hr Bandh Observed In Burla To Protest Action Against VIMSAR Director

Sambalpur: Protesting the decision taken by State Government to send Director of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) Dr Aswini Kumar Pujahari on leave for his unethical medical practices, Burla Sachetana Nagarika Manch protested the decision and called for a 12-hour bandh in the city.

Educational institutions, offices and banks downed shutters in view of the bandh. While vehicular movement too came to a grinding halt as agitators staged blockade at various places by burning tyres, demanding re-appointment of Pujahari.

Several platoons of police force have been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.

Reportedly, the Health and Family Welfare department of Government of Odisha sent Pujahari on leave from Saturday (December 8) till further order, after allegation were leveled against him for using unproven therapies during surgery. He was also served a show-cause notice and was directed to submit a reply to the Government.
