Odisha: 12-Hr Bandh For District Status Throws Normal Life Out Of Gear In Bonai

Sundergarh: In demand of district status for Bonai sub-division, Bonai Kriyanusthan Committee has called for a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh here today that has thrown normal life out of gear. Tuniapali, Gurundia, Bonai, Rajamunda, Lahunipada, Kaleiposa, Chandiposa, Koida and Tensa have been most affected by the bandh.

Educational institutions, offices and banks downed shutters in view of the bandh. While vehicular movement too came to a grinding halt as agitators staged blockade at various places by burning tyres. Several platoons of police force have been deployed in the locality to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.

Several civil societies and government bodies have also extended support to the bandh. Vehicular movement has come to a halt on national highway 143 and 215, however emergency services have been kept out of the bandh’s purview.
