Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on illegal contraband, Excise department on Monday apprehended one person and seized 10 quintals of ganja from a rented house during raid near Kolathia area in Bhubaneswar.

The accused has been identified as Subal Samantray of Remuna area in Balasore district. Acting on a tip-off, excise officials raided a duplex building near Kolathia area, nabbed Subal and seized the ganja worth around Rs 40 lakh.

As per reports, Subal had been smuggling the ganja illegally to Delhi and Kolkata from the rented house. He was sourcing the contraband from Gajapati and Phulbani. Further probe into the matter is on.
