Odia Jawan Martyred In J&K: Odisha CM Announces Rs 25 Lakh Ex-Gratia, Salutes Supreme Sacrifice

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced Rs 25 lakh ex-gratia and expressed thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family of Odia Jawan Ajit Kumar Sahoo, who was martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

"Deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Odia Jawan Ajit Kumar Sahoo in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Salute to the supreme sacrifice of the brave solider; my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family," he wrote.

On Monday, an Army Casper- a bullet and mine proof vehicle- of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was attacked by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on its way at Arihal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district which injured nine jawans. One among them was Ajit, who succumbed to his injuries late in the night while undergoing treatment at a local hospital there.

Ajit Kumar Sahoo hailed from Badasuala of Dhenkanal district’s Kamakhyanagar block.
