Nutrition Issues, Food Security Discussed At WFP-Odisha Meeting

Bhubaneswar: United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) officials today held a meeting with representatives of the Odisha Government and discussed about cooperation and programmes between the UNO and Odisha.

On the sidelines of the meeting, senior officials of WFP said that the main focus of the meeting was addressing nutrition issues and promoting food security.

"Odisha has scripted a success story in the management of pre and post-cyclone situations. However, there are some challenges related to malnutrition in the tribal areas," UNWFP Country Director to India, Bishow Parajuli said.

The WFP members said that a comprehensive strategy will be chalked to pave the way forward. Odisha has come a long way in improving the standards of farming and status of farmers, he added.
