Puri: The Odisha Government today decided to give relief to all the devotees and tourists on their way to this world-renowned pilgrim city during the ensuing annual Rath Yatra (car festival) season by exempting fee at Pipili-based national highway (NH)-203 toll gate connecting Bhubaneswar-Puri.

Prominent among the 16 vital subjects discussed at the special review meeting on Rath Yatra today here, this significant decision of toll fee exemption was taken.

This was informed to media by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Pradipta Mohapatra soon after the final coordination meeting on the annual Rath Yatra for this year.

The SJTA Chief Administrator informed that no toll tax will be levied at the Pipili toll gate on Gundicha Jatra, Bahuda Jatra and Sunabesha occasions.

He also informed that five Ambulances to be pressed into service from July 1 to July 15 on the NH.

The district administration will also provide free ambulance service from July 3 to 15 during the Rath Yatra festive occasions.

Chairing the special review meeting at Neeladri Bhakta Niwas in the district headquarters town here today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed to both the public and ‘sebayats’ (temple servitors) for cooperation during the grand event.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said, “The sebayats are always cooperating during the Rath Yatra. The people who visit during the period are our guests. We need to see that those guests enjoy a comfortable experience here. I wish the cooperation of one and all, especially from the residents of Puri.”

He also ordered the officials concerned to complete all the ongoing FANI restoration works by June 30.

Notably, the meeting was attended by various ministers, Puri MP, MLA, Chief Secretary, DGP and several other high officials along with the selected members of the temple servitors.
