Bhubaneswar: No major rainfall activity has been recorded in Odisha in the last 24 hours. While zero rainfall have been reported from 11 districts, highest rainfall of around 10 mm recorded in Nayagarh district, informed Deputy Relief Commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra on Friday.

Divulging details about the persons evacuated in affected districts of Odisha, Mohapatra said that the 300 persons evacuated in Tikarpada of Angul district are still residing at the relief camps. Similarly, the 40 persons evacuated in Pratapsasan of Khurda district.

There was no need of evacuation in Athmallik of Angul district and affected people were provided with dry food, he added.

Eighteen people residing near riverbed in two villages of Kendrapara were evacuated to safe places and provided with cooked food. Similarly, 88 people have been evacuated to two relief camps in Puri.

The people evacuated in Bolangir and Subarnapur districts are still residing at the relief camps. While the situation has improved, restoration works of damaged public property is underway.

Due to absence of river embankment in some areas of Banki and Banki-Dampada blocks of Cuttack district the flood water has inundated agriculture fields. As now the water is receding, the situation will return to normal, said Mohapatra.
