Bhubaneswar: Though the Odisha bandh called by Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) over demands of price, pension and prestige disrupted normal life across the State on Thursday, convenor of the farmers' outfit Akshaya Kumar said no harm has been inflicted on general public during the agitation.

Addressing a presser in Bhubaneswar, Akshaya said, "Wherever people were found travelling with essential commodities, our activists helped them to continue their journey without any fear with a message that this fight is not for any vested interest groups or corporations or parties, it is for the right of general public."

He informed that the bandh has been observed in 27 out of 30 districts in Odisha. It has also been observed in places where NKS has not even established its base. People and various associations have supported it spontaneously which is a moral victory.

Clarifying if the support given by BJP and Congress to the bandh is not politicising it, Akshaya said, "If walking on the path of truth is politics, I will do it and it is politics of 'dharma', which is not one of religions but of saving the humanity."
