Cyclone Fani: All Flight Operations In Bhubaneswar Airport Suspended From Midnight

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of upcoming extremely severe cyclone Fani, all flights to and fro Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) from midnight onwards today have been suspended. As per the update, the flight operations will remain suspended for 24 hours.

Cyclone FANI is expected to hit the Odisha coast in between 8 am and 10 am on Friday.

The cancellation includes 24 flights of Indigo and 4 flights of GoAir. The number of flights belonging to other airlines that have also been cancelled has not been ascertained yet.

All flights operated by Air India and Air Asia have from Bhubaneswar aiport have also been cancelled on May 3.

On the other hand, Vistara is offering change and waiving of cancellation fee for Bhubaneswar and Kolkata flights for travel between May 2, 2019, and May 5, 2018. In a statement, the airline said that if there is any fare difference, it will be applicable for date changes.

"In light of expected cyclone (FANI) which is likely to impact Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on 2nd May and 3rd May 2019, we are waiving change and cancellation fee for Bhubaneswar and Kolkata flights for travel between 2nd May 2019 to 5th May 2019. Fare difference if any, will be applicable for date changes," the statement released by Vistara read.
