Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today put all speculations to rest over explicit support to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) pertaining to the CBI-Mamata Banerjee turf war in West Bengal.

Addressing scribes on the sidelines of a foundation-stone laying ceremony in Nabarangpur on Tuesday, Naveen said that no one from the TMC has been in contact with the BJD on this matter.

"No one from the TMC has been in touch with us for at least a year. And our party's statement yesterday had to do with events in our own state," Naveen said. “We like everyone else, would like the CBI to do a professional and non-political job,” he added.

It may be pertinent to note that Mamata Banerjee today said that she would talk to Naveen on the ongoing issue (CBI) and seek his support.

Asked about the Supreme Court orders to the Kolkata Police Commissioner for cooperating with CBI, Naveen said, “All of us follow the judgments of the Supreme Court.”

The BJD on Monday “clarified” that the statement given by the party on CBI was in relation to Odisha and the overall issues confronting CBI at the national level.

“Grouping BJD with some political parties because of this statement is incorrect and misleading,” party spokesperson Sasmit Patra said.
