Cuttack: After conducting raid on the house and marathon grilling of a man from the minority community, the six-member team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday took a terror suspect under its custody for further interrogation.

The person has been identified as Akhtar Hussain Khan and he was residing in a rented house of Samantarapur slum in Kisan Nagar of this district for the last few years.

According to locals, Akhtar has been staying in the rented house for the past four-five years and used to visit Saudi Arabia frequently.

Talking to media, Odisha DGP R.P. Sharma informed that Akhtar Hussain Khan has been arrested by the NIA for his suspected terror link. He was staying in the Samantarapur slum of Kisan Nagar area for the last few years. He is an inhabitant of Nemala in Salepur area of Cuttack district.

Notably, the six-member NIA team on Wednesday morning hours raided the rented house in Kisan Nagar Samantarapur slum with the help of local police and made marathon interrogation of Akhtar for over four hours for his suspected terror activity link.

While the local police had cordoned off the place and the NIA team was on their mission, no authorities were available or agreed to brief on the development as it is a serious national security issue.
