Bhubaneswar: Oath taking of newly elected Members of Odisha Legislative Assemblies began on Thursday morning, a day after the swearing-in ceremony of Naveen Patnaik as Chief Minister of Odisha and his Council of Ministers.

First, oath was administered to Naveen Patnaik, who has been elected from Hinjili and Bijepur. Barachana BJD MLA Amar Prasad Satpathy, who has been appointed as the pro-tem speaker, administered oath to the legislator in the House.

Following Patnaik, Bhanjanagar MLA-elect Bikram Kesari Arukha was sworn-in. Many new faces, who have been elected MLA for the first time, also took oath today.

As per reports, the swearing-in ceremony will continue till 5.00 pm tomorrow in Odisha Assembly as there are 146 legislators (112 from BJD, 23 from BJP, 9 from Congress and 2 others) in line to take oath.

With oath-taking processing in full swing, this officially marks the beginning of 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly’s first session.
