Berhampur (Ganjam): The bodies of two youths, who drowned in the sea on Monday (New Year Day) pre-noon, have been recovered. A joint team of Odisha Disaster Response and Action Force (ODRAF) and Fire Services traced the bodies after a 24 hour ordeal on Tuesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Mohanty of Dhuagaon under Aska block and Ajay Suasia of Dharakote. They were pursuing BTech in an engineering college at Chennai.

The duo (cousins) had gone to the Sonepur beach with their other four friends for celebrating the New Year day which turned into a tragedy. While their friends were enjoying on the sea beach, Pradeep and Ajay longed for sea-bath.

When the two did not turn up for long, their friends sniffed danger and raised an alarm following which the police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot.

Local police have taken custody of the bodies and sent it for autopsy to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection.
