Bhubaneswar: The media reports regarding a fire breaking out in the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express today afternoon near Tilkanagar, a few kilometers before reaching Rourkela railway station, has been brushed off by the railway authorities.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) in a communiqué stated, passengers in coach number B-7 of the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (20818) had noticed smoke coming out of a panel board in the coaches after which they reported the matter to the TTE.
Following which the train was halted and the smoke was controlled. On enquiry it was revealed that the cause of the smoke was not a fire but a minor short circuit in the panel board due to a mouse.
The panel board was immediately repaired and further inspection of the system was carried out at Rourkela railway station. While some passengers remained in the coach on their own will, few others were shifted to other coaches before the train left the station.
The same coach will be checked by the Sr. Engineers & Officers of the Railways after reaching at Bhubaneswar Railway station today, the ECoR added.
