Bhubaneswar: After coming under the public scanner for allegedly attacking Election Commission’s flying squad and Static Surveillance Team (SST), Pipili MLA and BJD candidate Pradeep Maharathy refuted all allegations against him in a video that was posted on his Facebook page.

In the video, he said, “Today, I got the news from newspapers and channels that a special squad entered my farmhouse last night at 12 am in Hunekipur. As you all know, there was thunderstorm and very strong winds last night. There were no lights so Pipili was in darkness. Officials of special squad broke lock of my farmhouse and entered. When someone asked them that why were they trespassing, a squabble ensued between the two parties which resulted into physical altercation. I am deeply saddened by the incident. Neither me nor my party is involved in this”

A team of Election Commission (EC) officials, including a magistrate, were allegedly attacked last night while conducting a raid in Maharathy's farmhouse. Along with his supporters, Maharathy allegedly attacked a flying squad team led by executive magistrate Rabi Narayan Patra. The injured have been admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

"After getting information about the distribution of money and liquor at Pradeep Maharathy's farmhouse, I, along with the Static Surveillance Team (SST) team, had gone for investigation. As soon as the team reached there, Maharathy started hurling abuses and later attacked me and my team," alleged Patra.

Soon after that, Maharathy was called in for interrogation and was arrested in connection with the incident.
