Cuttack: In a heart wrenching incident, Nayagarh conjoined sisters Ganga-Jamuna eventually breathed their last in Sishu Bhawan during their treatment despite concerted efforts by a team of specialists as well as the state Government.

According to sources, the sad demise of Ganga-Jamuna was at midnight on Wednesday while the doctors formally declared their shocking death at 12:45 am.

All paper work and medical formalities were completed by 2 am after they were discharged and the conjoined bodies were taken back home in Nayagarh during the night itself.

Sources further said that the last rites were solemnised in the nativity at around 6:45 on Thursday morning hours.

Notably, Ganga-Jamuna had several physical aberrations as per medical report. They were born joined at the chest portion sharing single heart, liver and several vital organs except two individual brains.
