Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made an aerial survey of the areas affected by extremely severe cyclone Amphan in Odisha. Amphan was mighty, and it impacted West Bengal and Bangladesh severely. The impact of this severe cyclone was serious in Odisha as well.
Naveen expressed deep concern at the extensive damages especially to that of standing crops in the affected districts due to cyclone. The Chief Minister ordered for repair of damaged infrastructure and early restoration of normalcy in those districts.
Road clearance and connectivity issues will be sorted out by tomorrow morning. Power supply in areas under CESU will be restored in next 24 hours and areas under NESCO in 72 hours, a press note released by the Chief Minister's Office read.
Man power and material have been mobilized for restoration on war footing. Agriculture crop damage assessment will be completed in next three days. Besides, survey of damages to houses and buildings to be completed in a weeks time, the CMO press note added.
The districts Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj have been most affected by Amphan in Odisha. As many as 44.80 lakh people in 1,500 gram panchayats have been affected in Odisha under the impact of Cyclone Amphan. Crop has been damaged in nearly one lakh hectare farmland.
