Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik listed some remarkable feats of his Government while answering the queries of panelists at the book launch of "Juggernaut-Odisha On The Move" at Mayfair Convention in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

During a question and answer session with Prabhu Chawla, Editoral Director of The New Indian Express Group and Ravi Shankar, author of Juggernaut, the Chief Minister said how his government has transformed the State in the last 20 years.

On being questioned by Chawla about the sectors where miracle was performed by Naveen during his rule as Chief Minister, the latter said, before taking over the rule Odisha was known for its dire poverty. However, now the government has lifted 8 million people above the poverty line which is the highest average in the whole country.

Odisha was also dealing with food deficiency earlier, but now it exports rice to other States and is the third biggest contributor to the Public Distribution System (PDS). The income of farmers in the State has also doubled in the last 10 years, said the CM.

He also mentioned how Bhubaneswar has become the Smartest City in India and Odisha has been recognised as the Sports Capital of India with International Hockey Championship being held.

Food security for people at Re 1 per kilo of rice for 25 kg is also being provided in the State. The Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government has transformed the State as far as electricity, infrastructure and many other spheres.

On further being questioned by Chawla on the recent Supreme Court judgement regarding the ownership of tribal land in forest area, which will affect nearly 1.5 lakh tribals in Odisha, the CM said his government everything possible for the interest of the tribals and will continue to do so and if needed the government will approach the Supreme Court again.

Answering a query of Chawla about the challenges he will face in the upcoming elections, Naveen said his government's work will prove to be enough for winning the elections.

On being asked by Juggernaut's author if he really likes politics, the Chief Minister said he enjoys achievements from the people. He likes his work and is happy with it as long as people are happy. Further answering Shankar if he wants to retire from politics, Naveen answered with a straight no.
