Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today accused BJP leader Baijayant Panda for betraying the people of Kendrapada. Taking a dig at the former Lok Sabha member, Naveen said, "I had nominated a young and talented individual to represent you all. On my request you voted for him in large numbers. But he betrayed the people of Kendrapada and shattered my trust."

The BJD supremo was addressing a public meeting at Tangi in Cuttack district and Kendrapada parliamentary constituency which goes to poll in the fourth phase on April 29.

"The development and welfare of the people of Kendrapada was my focus and we all had pinned a lot of hopes with him. You elected him on two occasions to the Lok Sabha but he betrayed us all," the Chief Minister added in a direct attack on Panda.

"Personal ambitions are a priority for this man who has abandoned the interests of his electorate. It is an utter disrespect to the ethics of Biju Babu (Biju Patnaik)."

Training guns at the BJP, Naveen said that the saffron party is of the rich and for the rich. BJD belongs to and always cares for the poor, he said. "Several policies of the BJP-led Centre, including the demonetisation has ruined the lives of lakhs of poor people," he added.
