Bhubaneswar: Amid the speculations, sitting Jharsuguda MLA (Congress) Naba Kishore Das has given a clear indication that the people of his constituency have mandated him to contest next election as a BJD candidate instead of his original Congress party.

He also informed that the picture will be clear on January 24 during Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik’s Jharsuguda visit on the day.

Talking to media, the senior Congress MLA of Jharsuguda said, “Earlier also I have told and today also repeat whatever the people of Odisha will decide on my fate, I’ll accept it. For me ‘mati is greater than party’ (soil is more important than political party).”

He informed, “Yesterday in our ‘Lakhey Samaj’ meeting also all demanded that I should contest next election from BJD. All these proposals of the people will be presented to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on January 24. On the day, the Chief Minister is on official tour to Jharsuguda. He will be laying foundation stones for a Cancer Hospital, the rural project of pipe water for the whole district at an estimated cost of around Rs 400 crore, Diagnostic Centre for the first time in western Odisha and also for the 50-year-old demand for Chowkipada Over Bridge.”

“In that meeting I’ll apprise the Chief Minister of the people’s proposal and whatever outcome will be from it, I’ll inform the media then,” he stated.

The sitting Congress MLA further stated, “As my people of Jharsuguda have mandated me (for BJD), I don’t deem it justified under such circumstances to attend Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming meeting (in Odisha).”

“Everything will be crystal clear on January 24. I want to be the ‘sevak’ (servant) of the people not holding any post (expected ministerial berth next time in BJD Government). Do all become ministers? I’ve resolved to serve the people of Jharsuguda, western Odisha and entire Odisha,” he claimed.

“When the party supremo of Kishore Mohanty’s party (BJD) will accept me, he will also as Kishore Mohanty is a worker like me. In democracy, people’s mandate is supreme,” the sitting Congress MLA observed. In his media reactions, Kishore Mohanty has stated that he has no information on Naba Das joining BJD. He has also made it clear that his party supremo’s decision is final.
