Cuttack: Close on the heels of the death of a murder convict due to chest pain, family members along with locals and ex-inmates have cried foul and have alleged murder.

Deceased Subhransu Dash had been lodged in Choudwar Circle Jail after being convicted in the murder of one Keshab Behera. He had been admitted to SCB after complaining of chest pain. However, he breathed his last at the hospital.

Today, family members of Subhransu alleged that he had been killed in gang wars. They also said that the jailer and the Superintendant were involved in the gangs too. His mother added that Subhransu had told her that his life was in danger.

She has also lodged an FIR at Mangalabag police station against the jail authorities, added reports.

Dinabandhu Behera said, “I was an inmate once. There are two violent groups inside. Gang wars are a routine affair. My sons are lodged in this jail. I live in fear for them.” Suniapora Behera, whose husband and brother-in-law are also in jail, agreed with what Dinabandhu said as she too has heard similar stories.
