Sahoo’s body, which was scheduled to arrive yesterday evening, reached the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar late last night due to a mechanical snag in the flight which was supposed to airlift his body to Odisha.

From the airport his body was taken to the 120 Infantry (TA) Battalion where the army gave the Guard of Honour to the slain jawan. Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and leaders of various political parties also paid their tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice.

Meanwhile, Sahoo’s body is at the mini stadium in Dhenkanal from where it will be taken to his village Badasuala where thousands are waiting catch a last glimpse of the hero who was martyred in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

On the fateful day, an Army Casper- a bullet and mine proof vehicle- of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was attacked by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on its way at Arihal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district which injured nine jawans. One among them was Ajit, who succumbed to his injuries late in the night while undergoing treatment at a local hospital there.
