Bhubaneswar: With dawn of new year and this is being an election year for the slated general elections (both Lok Sabha and Assembly) are hardly a few months ahead, all parties in Odisha, especially, ruling BJD and its political bête noire BJP have further tightened up their belts for wooing votes.

While BJD claims to be confident of retaining power consecutively for the fifth stint, BJP has already set a target of its much-hyped Mission Odisha 120+ seats.

Accordingly, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led BJD has planned a programme in Puri on January 5 while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has his Baripada rally in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district on the same day.

In his media reactions, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, “The Mahila Samvesh of BJD at Puri is due to our commitment to women empowerment. In the last 18 years, women empowerment has been done by means of Mission Shakti implementation and MAMATA Yojana, etc in a bid to make them march ahead. Thus, efforts have been on by the BJD.”

“You all know about the 33% reservation for women that has been pioneered by BJD and our party is striving a lot for its implementation in State Assemblies and Parliament. These are the issues and BJD is keeping its commitment,” he averred.

Odisha BJP president Basant Panda informed media today, “Hon’ble Prime Minister is coming here on a government programme as he has to dedicate project. He would also motivate the BJP workers for Mission 120.”

He added, “Due to his visit, the BJP workers of the four parliamentary constituencies of northern Odisha have been convened to the venue there. Being inspired by the Prime Minister, the workers will further strengthen the party’s organization at the grassroots level.”

“Northern Odisha will play a pivotal role in achieving single majority in future. The workers will accordingly strive hard being motivated. This is the reason for which the Hon’ble Prime Minister is visiting.”
