Bhubaneswar: As his daughter has gone missing for over a month now, Basant Jena of Govindpur village in Cuttack staged a protest today in front of Commissionerate Police office alleging inaction by the cops.

On the night of April 20, Basant’s 15-year-old daughter went missing. According to the family members, one Jitu Roul of Bhanpur village has kidnapped her. Mentioning Jitu’s name, a complaint was filed by Basant’s brother on April 21. However, no action has been taken by the cops yet, alleged the villagers.

“I have given all the details to the cops to help in investigation. I have also visited the police station twice and called the Inspector-in-charge several times to follow-up on the situation. But all my efforts are going to waste as I am getting no help,” Basant said.

After staging a protest and screaming their demands, Basant and the villagers were taken inside the office where they met Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty, who assured them of speedy justice.
