Bhubaneswar: Trouble seems to find no end for movie ‘Mr Kanhaiya’ as Mahila Police Sation on Tuesday issued a notice to Papu Pom Pom and the movie producer Sitaram Agarwal over the misogynistic poster controversy. The duo has been asked to depose within seven days.

The notice was issued after a complaint was filed by social activist Linkan Subudhi against the movie’s lead Papu Pom Pom, director Ramesh Rout and the producer.

The movie makers and its lead the ever-controversial Papu Pom Pom drew flak on social media after an alleged poster of the movie started doing rounds. The poster showed Papu holding seven women on leash and controlling them. The degrading poster was deemed misogynistic and sexist by many.

After the backlash, the production company Sidharth Music had clarified that alleged poster does not belong to them but is actually a fan art. The official statement said, “The viral post has no relevance to the story of our movie. We always believe in healthy entertainment."
