Keonjhar: 15 Class V students of Belada Upper Primary school in Joda Block of Keonjhar district left their school hostel late Friday night fearing their Principal who in an intoxicated state used to regularly misbehave with them.

The Principal, Baneshwar Patra, has been accused of coming to school in an inebriated state. And taking advantage of his position, he would harass the girls verbally and physically. In addition, he reportedly also made them do his personal chores. Out of fear the minors never complained but bore all the mental harassment silently.

However, last night, Patra was intoxicated once again and rebuked the girls without any apparent reason. The minors accuse that the Principal asked them to come to his room after dinner.

Scared for their lives, the girls crept out of the hostel after sunset and reached out a guardian who lived nearby. The guardian, in turn, informed the Police and a female teacher of the school.

The Police took the accused Principal into custody for interrogation and handed over the 15 minor girls to the female teacher. A probe is underway.
