Rourkela: The district police on Tuesday rescued a 12-year-old child who was kept in captivity from the past five years. Two persons who had kept the minor boy captive have been arrested.

The boy was forced to work in a kennel and used to stay with dogs most of the time. SP Dr Sarthak Sarangi said that the district police received the information about the child and raided the spot.

"Under 'Paree III', we have been identifying minor children who are missing. Under this campaign we received the input about the child in captivity in Sector 1," he said.

There were 50 dogs in the dog breeding centre and the child was treated very inhumaly. "Whether the child was kidnapped or not is being ascertained. However, the GRP had received a missing complaint on this matter five years back," Sarangi added.

The police have handed over the child to Child Welfare Committee and given medical treatment. On the basis of the statement of the minor boy's sister, police have regisetered a case and initiating action.
