Angul: Love forced a Maoist couple to shed arms and tie the knot at Majhipada village in Tikarpada panchayat in Angul on Wednesday.

Jolly Dehury (19), third daughter of Prafulla Dehury of the village had joined the Sambalpur-Deogarh-Sundargarh Division of CPI (Maoist) after coming in contact with Maoist leader Kunu Dehury in January 2018.

During Maoist training, she met Chhotu Ganju (26) of Siram village in Ranchi district of Jharkhand and both fell in love. As the Maoist organisation was against their relationship, they decided to return to mainstream society.

Accordingly, they surrendered before Angul Police and their marriage was solemnised at the Champeswar Shiva Temple in Majhipada in presence of their family members and villagers.
