Berhampur (Ganjam): A man, assumed to be in his late 30s, has been bludgeoned to death in Chhatrapur. The deceased, identified as K Sreenu Reddy, is a resident of Reddika Sahi of Chhatrapur in Ganjam district. Prime facie suggests that his head was smashed by a heavy stone which ultimately caused his death.

The murder came to light when a few local youths saw a dead body lying near the Chhatrapur-Dhabaleshwar Peeth road behind Chhatrapur Railway station. They immediately tipped off the police who reached the spot along with a scientific team to examine the crime scene.

Following the incident, the police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons and initiated a probe to nab the murderers.

Interestingly, the deceased had been missing for the last three days. He had gone to attend a wedding feast in his colony but did not return home.

The police suspect this murder to be a pre-planned handiwork of a group of people. The body has been sent for autopsy and investigation has been started with the help of a scientific team.
