Man Arrested For Pushing Nephew To Watery Death In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: A man was arrested today after he pushed his aged nephew into a well which resulted in the latter meeting his watery death, today.

The shocking incident occurred at Kandhapada area of Chulhipunkha village Bangamunda block in Balangir district.

As per reports, the victim Jagadananda Behera (65) had gone to his field today morning when his distant relative and his uncle Bankanidhi Behera (42) pushed him into a well adjacent to the field.

Accused Bankanidhi then jumped into well himself and made sure that his nephew drowned. Locals rushed to help the elderly but crazed Bankanidhi threatened everyone with dire consequences.

Locals informed the police and fire service officials who then retrieved Jagadananda’s body and also took out accused Bankanidhi who was later arrested.

Prima facie evidence suggests that a previous enmity between the duo might have resulted in such a drastic action.
