Bhubaneswar: Taking the Make-in-Odisha initiative to a new height, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched 22 new projects that include 10 inaugurations and 12 groundbreakings. These 22 projects have been claimed to bring an investment of Rs 4461.42 crore and create 9451 job opportunities.

In his keynote address on the special occasion, the Chief Minister said, “I congratulate all the companies on this milestone and assure everyone of complete facilitation support from the State Government. These projects will usher in the next era of industrial growth in the State and will contribute towards the vision of an industrially prosperous Odisha.”

He added, “Odisha has a vision of becoming one of the top three investment destination in the country in terms of grounded investments. Towards achieving this vision, we have devised the ‘5T’ strategy in which Transformation goals will be achieved through Teamwork, Transparency and Technology enablers in a Time-bound manner.”

“This strategy has already started yielding encouraging results towards our industrial growth. You will be glad to know that in the past 20 months alone, we have undertaken groundbreaking and inauguration of over 120 industrial units with an investment of Rs 92,686 crore in the State with the creation of employment opportunities for over 1.2 lakh people. I believe all Departments must take pride in facilitating new manufacturing investments and creating employment opportunities for the people of our State,” stated the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister also released a coffee table book Make-in-Odisha 2018.

Prominent among others, Minister of State for Industries, Energy and MSME Dibya Shankar Mishra, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy, Industries Secretary also spoke on the occasion while vote of thanks was proposed by IDCO CMD Sanjay Singh.     

Briefing media later, Odisha Industries Secretary Sanjeev Chopra said, “We had received intentions of 202 projects. The investment is a tune to Rs 4,23,000 lakh while the employment opportunity is for 5,90,000 people. This was the list in the wake of Make in Odisha Conclave-2018. In the last 7-8 months, 61 out of the 202 projects have been accorded approval by Single Window Clearance. 6 projects have been approved through the District Level Single Window, the investment of which is less than Rs 50 crores. Around 20 projects are under examination at the District Level or at the State Level. So, that is a broad picture of the Make-in-Odisha outcome.”

He informed, “Today at the 7th Phase, the Hon’ble Chief Minister conducted groundbreaking of 12 projects and inauguration of 10 projects. While the total investment is of Rs 4,461 crore, the 9,451 people will get employment opportunities.”

To media queries, he further replied, “We are implementing both the manifesto and 5Ts of the State Government. We are trying to have and ready to move sheds through IDCO at the district level so that the small and medium enterprises avail the pre-approved environment for starting their units soon.”

“There has been inauguration plus groundbreaking of total 120 projects in the State till date,” he quipped.
