Rayagada: Timely information and repair of a crack on the railway track near Singapur Road station in Odisha’s Rayagada district averted a major rail accident on Thursday morning.

Notably, a linesman noticed a small crack which had developed near the Singapur Road station. He immediately informed the concerned station master.

“At around 8:30 am, the linesman came across the crack on platform no 1 and informed the station master. We stopped the Durg Visakhapatnam passenger train which was scheduled to cross at that time. The repair work was immediately started and the train services got restored within a short period of time. This timely act averted a major mishap,” informed a railway official.

Interestingly, such a crack had been marked in the district a month back and the Hirakhand Express had miraculously escaped an accident.
