Bhubaneswar: A major forest fire at Khandagiri Hill in Bhubaneswar was averted by alert staff of Commissionerate Police on Sunday.

Reportedly, on getting information of a fire at Khandagiri Hill, staff of PCR 15 rushed to the spot and controlled the fire before arrival of fire brigade.

The fire had spread in an area of around 1.5 kilometre inside the forest. PCR 15 staff including Havildar Purna Chandra Mishra, OAPF jawan D Panda, Home Guard B Muduli and Driver SK Muni doused the flames with help of green branches.
