Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough the Commissionerate of Police have busted the gang of robbers-cum-vehicle lifters who were associated in a series of crimes in the State Capital over the past one month.

Total nine members of this gang have been arrested so far, out of which five were nabbed during an excahnge of fire with the police.

These nine miscreants have 25 criminal cases against them in police stations of Bhubaneswar and four cases in other districts. The police have recovered 9 cars and SUVs and eight pricey motorbikes during the course of investigation.

Besides, five country-made mousers, live ammunition, 1,000 litres of illicit liquor and 224 grams of gold have been recovered from the possession of the accused, said Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.

“The accused are also involved in cases outside the Capital City and we are in the process of collecting their complete antecedents. Besides, a manhunt is on to nab the other members of the gang,” Mohanty added.
