Bhubaneswar: Giving Odisha and Chhattisgarh a final chance, Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal asked the governments of both the States to hold discussions before March 30.
It is notable to mention here that on February 9, the Tribunal had directed the Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments to amicably resolve the water-sharing row. Both the Governments held talks on March 5, however no conclusion had been reached. While the final verdict in the water dispute case was expected today, the Tribunal has asked both the States to hold discussions again.
According to reports, Odisha has demanded the release of 1.74 million acre-feet of water by Chhattisgarh during the non-monsoon season. It has also urged the Tribunal to stop Chhattisgarh from constructing barrages over Mahanadi.
