Talcher: A five year old girl is suffering from excruciating pain because a needle stuck in her waist while she was administered an injection few months back. The incident took place at a clinic in August this year at Balunga block of Talcher.

Since then, the parents of this little girl, Shalini Behera, have knocked several doors for proper medical care, but have been fairly successful in their attempts. The doctors at the private clinic where the injection was pricked improperly, referred her to a nursing home at Angul and later to another hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The family's ordeal did not end there. "It has been four months since this incident took place, but the injection needle remains stuck in Shalini's waist and she is suffering," said Shalini's mother, Sumitra. "We have already spent lot of money for Shalini's treatment and are lacking funds," she added.

The family approached the district administration on Tuesday seeking help. Assitant Collector, Talcher Gouri Nayak said that Shalini will be treated at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and the expenses will be provided by the district administration.
